Founded in 2001, Liberty Power is one of the fastest growing, competitive retail energy providers in the country. As the first minority-owned, retail electricity supplier with a national presence Liberty Power is one of only 5 retail electricity providers licensed in 16 or more deregulated markets. LP serves thousands of small to med-size businesses and customers across 16 states.

While Liberty Power serves numerous Fortune 500 companies, including New York Life, JC Penney and PepsiCo and has a seasoned management team with more than 250 years of combined experience, their website at the time didn’t reflect its leadership and excellence within the energy industry. Nor did it convey LP’s commitment to technology and innovation. Additionally, the design, functionality and navigation of the site also didn’t fulfill customer expectations.

This project was special because we worked with one of our partners, Original Impressions, in order to deliver the best results for LP. By combining forces, OI was able to draft a comprehensive communications plan to build awareness and stakeholder engagement upon the release of the re-designed site as well as offer its marketing services. So Iblesoft could focus on the development environment through coding and testing.

Development

The website re-design was the first in a series of digital efforts initiated by OI as a lever to move the brand to best-in-class status over the next three years, while also serve as a tool to attract, engage and retain customers, employees and partners.

As part of the development team, Iblesoft designed a custom web template with a CMS tool and a responsive design.

Designed with scalability, the website aimed at bringing Liberty Power’s website up to par with the industry. The website design revolved around the idea that the industry was going through a shift.

Energy was viewed more as a service product that customers can touch and feel rather then an intangible commodity. In order to realize this vision we:

  • Established a user-centric CMS tool to accommodate new business updates quickly & easily
  • Provided news & information on the homepage with easy navigation so visitors could access it in just a few clicks
  • Coordinated with LP IT to set up development, stage and production servers
  • Migrated content to new site and added a site-wide search feature to enhance the customer experience
  • We also developed a custom DotNetNuke Module and set up the DNN CMS feature
